ABOUT OUR LOGO

“The eagle symbolizes the power of the Great Spirit.  It represents strength, courage, grace, great perception and freedom.  Eagle down, a symbol of peace and friendship, is sprinkled before guest on ceremonial occasions.  I dance this peace dance at my family’s potlatches.  I am guided by my ancestors when I create my work.  It is a spiritual journey of self healing.”  Wade Baker

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mintle-e-da-us, Wade Stephen Baker is a North West Coast artist.  He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in June 1956.  His Kwakiutl native name is Mintle-e-da-us which means “place of plenty”.  His understanding of the spiritual meaning of traditional ceremonies comes from attending his family’s many potlaches held in various longhouses along the Pacific coast.  His complex and detailed artistry creates spiritual forms that appeal to both traditional and modern collectors.
