Educational Support Program

Document Actions

The Education Division of EAGLE has the mandate to provide educational support and services to Aboriginal Peoples and Aboriginal organizations that have a need or desire to gain knowledge about environmental protection.  Our Education Program is founded on the belief that knowledge is a primary component to the continued safeguarding of our lands, waters, and resources, and that such knowledge shoud be distributed to those who desire it.  Further, Aboriginal Peoples hold extensive knowledge with respect to maintaining a healthy environment, and that longstanding wisdom ought to be integrated with legal, scientific, and practical information to provide a comprehensive approach to environmental protection.  Through our education program, we seek to compliment this knowledge and wisdom with legal, technical and practical information to assist Aboriginal Peoples in protecting the land and environment.

The value of reciprocity is strongly reflected in the design and delivery of our education program.  Educational Workshops incorporate Aboriginal traditional knowledge of the lands and resources, and we rely on Aboriginal involvement in the development of our publications.  Case studies provide an important component of all our workshop materials, highlighting the diversity of Aboriginal Peoples' experiences and efforts to protect the lands and resources.
