Logging
On behalf of the Seton Lake Indian Band, EAGLE successfully intervened to stop proposed logging activity adjacent to the reserve lands at Seton Lake in 1998. The proposed logging site was an area which the Band had previously occupied and contained high cultural heritage concerns. The location of the proposed logging posed significant risk of environmental damage. Working with the law firm of Mandell Pinder, EAGLE gathered traditional use evidence to bring an injunction application. When this information was shared with the Ministry of Forests, the road and logging permits were rescinded and the logging was permanently halted. Today, the area still remains protected.
